‘Australian Marathi Vidyalaya'(AMV) is a community language school and ‘Marathi Association Sydney Incorporated’ (MASI) is AMV’s proud sponsor.AMV is an educational institutionand a non-profit organization. With a strong belief in ‘Language keeps you in touch with your culture’, AMV is committed to provide every possible opportunity to the young Marathi generation to be familiar and literate in their own mother tongue-Marathi.

It has been operational since February 2008. In 2013, we have about 71 students as of end of term 2. AMV is run completely on voluntary basis. The funds are managed through the fees collected from the students, financial support from MASI and grant received under NSW Department of Education and Training – Community Language Program. Teachers are paid honorarium for their services. AMV is operated under the rules and regulations specified by NSW Department of Education and Training – Community Language Program.

The NSW Department of Education and Training provides financial grants to organizations to promote languages education in the community sector through the NSW Community Languages Program .The aim of this program is to assist communities to maintain and develop their heritage languages. We are a member of the umbrella organisation for community languages in the lIIawarra – ‘Association of lIIawarra Community Languages Schools Incorporated’ (AICLS).
